Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary Observance at Hnahthial District – Press Conference Held with Media Personnel and Community Leaders

#ZONEWS Hnahthial October 31 2025: As part of the nationwide commemoration of one of India’s most important leaders, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the “Iron Man of India,” a press conference was held today at the DC Meeting Hall, Hnahthial, under the leadership of SDO (Sadar), Pi Esther Leihang. The event was conducted in connection with the Sardar@150 Programme to mark his 150th birth anniversary.

During the press conference, SDO (Sadar) Pi Esther Leihang highlighted the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and emphasized the importance of this occasion. She urged all present, particularly to spread awareness of the programme’s purpose and significance among the general public and the youth in particular.

The conference was chaired by DIPRO, Mr. F. Lalrinfela, who expressed hope that through this programme, Hnahthial District would further strengthen the spirit of national unity.

The SDO (Sadar) explained that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who successfully unified 565 princely states into a single nation, holds an irreplaceable place in India’s history and as such, the Sardar@150 Programme is organized to honor and remember his achievements and his role in uniting the country. She also mentioned that India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has launched the Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative with the same spirit of unity and progress, and Sardar@150 is part of that vision.

Regarding district-level plans, she informed that detailed arrangements for implementation would be finalized and discussed on 6th November.

The Sardar@150 celebrations, which began nationwide on 6th October, include various competitions such as a Social Media Reel Contest, Essay Writing Competition, and Sardar@150 Young Leaders Programme Quiz. Participants can register and take part through the MY Bharat Portal (mybharat.gov.in/pages/unity_march).

Other associated programmes include a Podcast Series – “Ek Tha Sardar”, which will also be launched through the MY Bharat Portal. As per the guidelines, awareness sessions and lectures highlighting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life and his contributions to the unity of India will also be organized in suitable public venues.

At the district level, a Unity March (Pad Yatra) will be organized, involving youth volunteers, students from schools and colleges, community members, and citizens. Other planned activities include Cleanliness Drives, Tree Plantation, Unity Pledges, Cultural Performances, and Awareness Campaigns.

On 26th November 2025, which is Indian Constitution Day, a National Level Unity March/Pad Yatra is planned to be held from Karamsad (Gujarat)—Sardar Patel’s birthplace—to the Statue of Unity, Kevadia, Gujarat, covering a distance of 152 kilometers. Each district across India is expected to send two representatives to participate in this event.

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has also emphasized the “Vocal for Local” initiative to promote local artisans, small industries, and self-reliant production under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India). These efforts aim to encourage innovation, self-sufficiency, and economic growth across the nation.
